Libyan National Centre for Standardization & Metrology (LNCSM) is a public organization established in 1990 operating under the Ministry of Planning. LNCSM is the national standards body and is as the only official authority entrusted with all matters related to standardization, quality and metrology in Libya.
A supreme committee, headed by his Excellency the Minister of Planning and comprised of the Minster of Health, the Minister of Economy, the Minister of Industry and the Director General of LNCSM, outlines the general policy of LNCSM.
LNCSM also organizes training programs, seminars and conferences in collaboration with other organizations on all matters related to standardization and quality. LNCSM is a member of ISO, SMIIC, ARSO, AIDSMO, Codex and ASTM.
LNCSM is responsible for:
- Issuing, approving, reviewing and amending of standards with regard to all goods, Products and services;
- Granting Libyan Quality Mark & marks of conformity;
- Representation of Libya in regional and international standardization bodies.
